What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an alternative form of medical treatment options for a wide variety of conditions and ailment. It began over 3,000 years ago as a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is now widely accepted in western culture as well, due in part to its various health benefits. Chinese medicine practices the belief that when the forces of energy in your body known as “qi” are balanced, your body is healthy. Any disruption in this energy causes a blockage of and can lead to pain, illness, and lack of function. Acupuncture works to bring the body back in balance by positively affecting the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system and digestive system.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

At The Back Pain Center, the professional acupuncturists work with you one-on-one in an effort to restore the balance of energy in your body and promote health. Once your problem areas have been identified, slim, medical-grade needles are inserted into specific points called “meridians” throughout your body. These meridians correspond to certain internal organs and the strategic placement of the needles works to detoxify muscle tissue, release endorphins, and provide pain relief without an invasive medical procedure.
